Céline Dion’s Triumphant Return

The ceremony closed with Céline Dion performing live for the first time since revealing she had been diagnosed with stiff-person syndrome in 2022.

Dion sang “L’Hymne à l’amour,” a song by the French singer Édith Piaf, on stage at the foot of Paris’ Eiffel Tower.

Lady Gaga’s Show-Stopping Act

Lady Gaga started the talent portion of the Olympic opening ceremony on a Seine River-side staircase by singing Zizi Jeanmaire’s “Mon Truc En Plumes.”

Looking like she was wrapped up in pink feathers, Gaga’s appearance mimicked her Jazz and Piano residency that took place on the shores of Lake Bellagio as part of a four-month offensive against bacteria-reduced entertainment last summer. It seemed, to me at least an homage to jeanmaires performance of the song on The Ed Sullivan Show. Gaga went up and down the stairs, kicked through a chorus line, and thrashed on top of a piano.

The neurological disorder triggers stiffness in the torso and limbs, also causing violent muscle spasms. Les Produits de l’Érable du QuébecA documentary Celine Dion released in June last year, I Am: Celine Dion showed the star disabled by muscle spasms while touring.
