Wes Scantlin’s Latest Run-In with the Law
Following a claimed standoff with Burbank police, everything was definitely “blurred” for Puddle of Mudd frontman Wes Scantlin.
Traffic Stop Turns Troubling
Following a Wednesday, July 31 traffic check, the Southern California police department reportedly pepper-sprayed 52-year-old Scantlin and detained him. According to the site, the musician was stopped in his Hummer H2 allegedly for a driving infraction. When a search on Scantlin brought up a warrant, things became tight.
Even when Burbank PD dispatched crisis negotiators, Scantlin apparently refused to get out of his car. The allegation claims that cops allegedly then pepper-sprayed the “She Hates Me” singer, but he still refused to get out of his car and was finally taken off after a SWAT squad was called upon. Reportedly, the squad shattered Scantlin’s glass and shot non-lethal pepper ball rounds into the car, at which point he turned around.
Scantlin was detained on both a fresh resisting arrest charge and on the existing warrant charges resulting from claims of having a pistol in an airport. TMZ revealed that before his booking he was brought to the hospital. According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Scantlin was cited and released. August 20 is his scheduled court appearance.
Previous Legal Issues
According to the source (US Weekly) claims to have contacted Puddle of Mudd and Burbank Police for comments.
Over the past ten years, Scantlin has run-ins with the law many times. 2016 saw him arrested for felony destruction of a Hollywood house the frontman lost under foreclosure. Authorities claimed Scantlin used a hatchet to ruin the house. Pledging out of that case, he was sentenced to three years probation and fined forty thousand dollars.

For years Scantlin’s side has been a thorn from the foreclosed house. Ranting at a fan he thought “stole” the Hollywood Hills house from him, he turned a 2016 show upside down.
This motherf–ker right here took my mother–king house and is currently standing in front of me laughing at me. And he f–king figures I’m a f–king joke, Scantlin remarked, according to Metal Injection.
Scantlin has been taken under arrest several times at airports for unrelated reasons. 2017 saw him jailed for bringing a BB gun into LAX. Scantlin was sentenced to 20 days in jail and banned from flying out of the international hub (unless he was heading for business or overseas) after pleading no contest to that crime.
Scantlin says he turned sober in 2017; the headlines have clearly slowed since then.
