Lionsgate is set to broaden the John Wick universe with a brand-new action series titled John Wick: Under The High Table. This series will be executive produced by Keanu Reeves, the star of the blockbuster franchise, and director Chad Stahelski. Stahelski is also expected to oversee the pilot episode.
John Wick 4 Sequel Series Overview
The show, written by Robert Levine of The Old Man, will follow directly after the events of Wick: Chapter 4. While some familiar faces will stick with the old-world order, its departure from the High Table leaves it in a vulnerable state. Expect to meet a host of new characters trying to carve out their place.
A New Era for the Wick Universe
As one of Peacock’s most anticipated releases of 2023, Wick: Under The High Table aims to blend new and existing characters, pushing the Wick universe into a fresh era. This strategy mirrors what Lionsgate did with the prequel series The Continental: From the World of Wick.
Creative Team Behind the Series
Chad Stahelski, who also heads up 87Eleven Entertainment, is executive producing alongside Erica Lee and Basil Iwanyk from Thunder Road. Robert Levine, the show’s creator and showrunner, joins Keanu Reeves in the executive producer role. Reeves is involved with the project but will not be acting in it.
Potential for More Spinoffs
The show’s ending might set the stage for more spinoff films, especially for Donnie Yen’s character Caine. Following the events of John Wick: Chapter 4, the film’s post-credits scene hinted at a potential clash between Caine and Akira (Rina Sawayama), which could lead to further developments.
Additionally, Lionsgate is working on a spinoff film Ballerina featuring Ana de Armas, and rumors of a fifth John Wick movie are in the works. However, Under The High Table won’t impact these plans.
