Darius Rucker was arrested for a minor drug crime in Williamson County, Tennessee on Thursday.
Darius Rucker’s counsel claimed that he is actively cooperating with authorities over the minor claims.
The 57-year-old artist was nabbed on two charges of simple possession/casual exchange of a controlled narcotic and one charge for breaching Tennessee’s car registration legislation, as verified by the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office to PEOPLE.
The illegal substance was not recognized by officials.
Rucker was captured by the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office and formally charged with three felonies. The country star was freed on a bond of $10,500 and is no longer in detention.
The cause of Rucker’s arrest remains unknown. TMZ, the source of the information, revealed that Rucker was arrested owing to the presence of expired tags on his vehicle, as indicated by the authorities.
Rucker released his most recent album, Carolyn’s Boy, in October. This record is his debut solo venture after a gap of six years, and it is loaded with highly delicate tracks, as he confessed to PEOPLE. The name is a remembrance of his loving mother, Carolyn, who went away in 1992.
“She’s been gone for so long, but I still think about her every day,” said Rucker. “She was my biggest champion… I hope I’m making her proud.”
In December, the former Hootie & the Blowfish lead vocalist was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Rucker was accompanied by his three kids, Carolyn, 28, Daniella, 22, and Jack, 18, whom he addressed in his statement.
“Cary, Dani, and Jack are my heart, they’re my soul,” the artist remarked. “They’re everything to me and everything I do is for them.”
“It’s just been an amazing thing to be your father,” Rucker added as he turned to his kids. “As fantastic as all this stuff is, it’s not as cool as being your dad, and I honestly mean it. I adore you all very much.”

Darius Rucker Tries To Be A Better Father
The “Wagon Wheel” singer told PEOPLE in June 2023 that he tries to keep in contact with his kids even while on the road.
“When phones and FaceTime came into play, it made it a lot easier,” he noted at the time. “[I] just try to call every day.”
“The way we tour is great,” the Charleston native continued. “We only tour on the weekend, so it’s three days a week, and the other four days I’m pretty much home, so that makes it a lot easier.”
