Christine Lakin Speaks Out on Why She Was Cut from Fuller House

Star Lakin of “Step by Step” offered her perspective on the reason she was let go from the sitcom.

Christine Lakin’s Departure from Fuller House

Revealing her idea about why she was let go from Fuller House, actress Christine Lakin discussed Candace Cameron Bure.

Lakin explained her background with the sequel series on the most recent episode of the podcast How Rude, Tanneritos! presented by Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber, respectively, who portrayed Stephanie Tanner and Kimmy Gibbler in Full House and Fuller House respectively.

The Unexpected Call

Lakin, who portrayed Alicia “Al” Lambert on the ’90s sitcom Step by Step, detailed how she visited Fuller House creator Jeff Franklin to discuss a position. Everything appeared to be going nicely and the first table read was scheduled when she received a call from her manager stating, “Yes, something occurred. They are moving the table read. I believe there is some work on the script they wish to rework.”
Lakin said, “The next day happened and my manager called and said, ‘Hey, you’ve been let go. But in the end, the table read never happened.” And I said, “What do you mean?”

Lakin apparently asked her manager, “Yeah, they just said they’re rewriting the character and they’re not going to need you anymore,” wondering, “What did I do wrong?”

Lakin started by emphasizing that she doesn’t know exactly why she was let go, but stated, “I’ll just give you some facts, and you can put this together, anyone can put this together any way they want.”

A Possible Connection to Past Events

Seven years before her meeting for Fuller House, Lakin said she “damagingly participated in a Funny or Die video parodying Cameron Bure’s brother Kirk Cameron’s anti-LGBTQ+ comments.”

“All I can think of is that it produced some bad blood,” Lakin remarked. “And seven years later, my presence was not desired. I guess that’s maybe what I believe.

Podcast Discussion and Reactions

Sweetin responded with a jokingly “So should we do another Funny or Die video?” The women carried on the discussion, talking about Lakin’s acquaintance Virginia Williams, who apparently assumed the position Lakin was first asked about.

Cameron Bure or her brother have not responded to Lakin’s comment as of now.
