BritBox Inks Sphere Abacus Content Deal for North America


BritBox has inked a wide-ranging North American 20-hour content deal with Sphere Abacus for a range of titles including non-fiction, true crime, entertainment and drama.

Following the deal, American and Canadian audiences with a subscription to the ad-free streaming platform will be able to watch:

  • “Travels With Agatha Christie with Sir David Suchet” (Soho Studios and Two Rivers Media) in which “Poirot” actor David Suchet follows in Christie’s footsteps in travels across the globe
  • “Jon and Lucy’s Odd Couples” (King of Sunshine), where comedians Jon Richardson and Lucy Beaumont lead pairs of famous couples in a hilarious competition
  • “The Murder of Sandra Rivett” (Woodcut Media), which tells the story of Lord Lucan’s nanny Sandra Rivett, who he is believed to have bludgeoned to death before disappearing
  • “Breaking Dad: Britain’s Unlikeliest Drug Dealer” (Big Little Fish), about the man who contributed to Britain’s meth epidemic in the early 2000s
  • “Agatha Christie: 100 Years of Poirot and Miss Marple” (aka “Agatha Christie: 100 Years of Suspense”) (Honey Bee Media), which celebrates Christie’s ten most iconic works
  • “Diana: The Interview That Shook the World” (Rogan Productions), the now infamous interview in which Diana exposed the reality of her life in the Royal Family
  • “Susan Hill’s The Small Hand: A Ghost Story” (Awesome and Two Rivers Media), an adaptation of Hill’s novel of the same name

Suchet will be in Cannes this week for Mipcom to promote “Travels With Agatha Christie with Sir David Suchet.”

“Factual programming from the U.K. continues to engage and entertain viewers around the world and we are delighted to have secured sales to BritBox for these exceptional titles from some of the U.K.’s leading indies,” said Anne Corsak, Sphere Abacus sales director for North America.

Mipcom runs from Oct. 21 to 24.
